Hong Kong is a haven for people who loves chinese food. However in the past, I could not get to experience the delicious food as I could not find restaurant serving halal chinese food. Recently I got a chance to travel to Hong Kong again. This time around I would be travelling with a government official. I requested to be put up at a hotel in an area where we can find halal food. The lady who made our travel arrangement was kind enought to put us up at The Charterhouse Hotel in Wan Chai.
We later found out that the hotel is located a stone's throw away from a mosque. We took the chance to visit the mosque and were very happy to discover that there is a restaurant serving halal Chinese food on the 5th floor of this mosque (or rather a muslim community complex).
If you would like to experience halal authentic chinese food and dim sum, here are the directions to the mosque: Take the MRT and exit at either Wan Chai or Causeway bay station. You can ask for direction to The Charter House Hotel. When you reach the hotel, get to the back of the hotel via the lane (tunnel) next to the main entrance.
As you exit the tunnel, you will see sign for Muslim Kindergarten on the wall of the building (look at 2 o'clock direction). You have found the building.
Get into the building via the front entrance, take the lift and get to the 5th floor. You have arrived at your destination. You can also find find prayer rooms and other facilities for muslim community in this building.
The address for The Charterhouse Hotel is 209-219, Wanchai Road, Hong Kong. website www.charterhouse.com
